On August 7, Fariz Ismayilzade, Deputy Chairman of the Science and Education Committee of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis; and Farid Hajiyev, Head of the Milli Majlis Administration, met with a delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), led by Secretary General Ek Nath Dhakal and Director of International Cooperation Hajime Saito.
During the meeting, Fariz Ismayilzade briefed the ISC officials on the Azerbaijani Parliament’s international activity, including the successful cooperation with several interparliamentary organizations, while also highlighting Milli Majlis’ efforts aimed at advancing the parliamentary diplomacy, as well as Azerbaijan’s international initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic, including providing aids to several countries.
Ek Nath Dhakal provided a detailed overview on ISC’s activity, also mentioning prospects for enhancing the collaboration with the Milli Majlis.
Subsequently, Head of Administration Farid Hajiyev provided insight into history, current structure, and activity of the Milli Majlis.
Following the meeting, the ISC delegation toured the building of the Milli Majlis, exploring the memorial corner, initiated by Speaker Sahiba Gafarova dedicated to Azerbaijan’s victory claimed during the Patriotic War, as well as the Parliament’s Plenary Hall.
