On July 16, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with met with visiting Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mohammad Mustafa.
During the meeting, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the existing friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Palestine, as well as bilateral cooperation, grounded in mutual respect. She further noted that reciprocal visits and bilateral meetings contribute significantly to enhancing the interstate relations, adding that the current visit of the Palestinian PM to Azerbaijan would also contribute immensely to boosting bilateral cooperation.
The Speaker of the Parliament noted that Azerbaijan maintains a principled position on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that this position is also consistently pursued within the framework of international organizations.
The Prime Minister of the State of Palestine, Mohammad Mustafa, expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani government, people, and parliament for the consistent political, diplomatic, and humanitarian support shown regarding the Palestinian issue. Noting the importance of his meetings with the President and the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister emphasized that the continuous support of the country's leadership will never be forgotten by the Palestinian people. The Prime Minister also highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s contribution to international peace initiatives, stating that his country remains committed to a just and lasting peace based on the "two-state solution.”
Mohammad Mustafa noted that there is great potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries in agricultural, educational, and humanitarian fields. In this framework, he specifically noted the construction of a school in Palestine with the support of Azerbaijan, as well as other joint projects. Expressing that he attaches special importance to the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of further expanding this collaboration across various areas.
