


Azerbaijan’s Folklore Group “Gorgud” joins 9th Great Hun Turkic Congress in Hungary

The 9th Great Hun Turkic Congress was held in the Hungarian city of Bugac, organized by the country’s Turan Foundation and supported by the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY).
The event was attended by Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY); Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS); Shahin Mustafayev, President of the Turkic Academy, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Budapest, art representatives, scientists, and folklore experts from the Turkic World.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event by the Folklore Group “Gorgud” with the support of the Ministry of Culture. Led by artistic director, Nuriyya Huseynova, along with soloist Chilenay Huseynova the group performed national composer and folk songs in accompaniment of Honored Artists Tarana Aliyeva (canon) and Fazile Rahimova (cheng), as well as Rustam Muslumov (tar), Jeyhun Muradov (kamancha), and Akbar Mammadov (drum).
The three-day ethnofestival included concert programs, cavalry parades, presentations on nomadic life and ancient martial arts, handicraft exhibitions, as well as scientific meetings in the fields of archaeology and anthropology.
The biennial Great Hun Turkic Congress aims to further strengthen the unity between the Turkic peoples and their diaspora organizations.
