Representatives of Ombudsman’s Office meet with Azerbaijani citizens repatriated from Syria

Baku, July 28, AZERTAC
The Government of Azerbaijan continues phased and coordinated actions to repatriate its nationals from the Syrian Arab Republic. This year, such measures have resulted in the repatriation of a total of 16 people, including seven women and nine children, on 18-19 July 2026.
The subject-matter experts (SMEs) of the Ombudsman held a meeting with those repatriates (returnees) accommodated in the Social Services Agency facility under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
During the conversations, the SME evaluated the state of protection of their rights and learned their basic needs.
They were informed of the Ombudsman’s mandate, including the protection of the rights of women and children.
Furthermore, the management of the facility briefed the Ombudsman’s experts about rehabilitation services provided for the returnees.
The outcomes of the meeting were discussed, and facility staff were provided recommendations.
