Astana, February 26, AZERTAC
The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan hosted a commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.
The event was attended by members of the Azerbaijani community living in Astana, experts, as well as Azerbaijani students studying in the country.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Aghalar Atamoglanov stated that the Khojaly tragedy represents one of the bloodiest chapters of the genocide and ethnic cleansing policy carried out by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people.
He noted that, through the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Khojaly genocide was given a proper political and legal assessment. Furthermore, the "Justice for Khojaly!" international awareness campaign, launched by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has significantly strengthened awareness and advocacy efforts in this direction.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and historical justice through its victory achieved in the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 and the anti-terror measures carried out in September 2023.
