Khojaly, August 7, AZERTAC
The “Khojaly Encyclopedia” was presented in the city of Khojaly.
Published in 2026 with the financial support of the State Support Agency for Non-Governmental Organizations of Azerbaijan, the encyclopedia was developed under the concept and project leadership of Sariya Muslum gizi.
The authors are Professor Mubariz Allahverdiyev, Rustam Hajiyev, and Durdana Aliyeva.
The “Khojaly Encyclopedia” comprises four sections. The first section covers the history, geography, architectural and archaeological heritage of Khojaly, as well as information about the Khojaly genocide. The second section presents the heartbreaking life stories of the victims of the genocide — those who lost their lives, went missing, and survived. The third section is devoted to notable figures of Khojaly. The fourth section, for the first time, features information about the Khojaly beys and their genealogical backgrounds.
In her remarks, Sariya Muslum gizi, the project’s author and leader, said the documentary publication was prepared over three years.
Milli Majlis MP Elman Mammadov described the presentation of the “Khojaly Encyclopedia” in liberated Khojaly as a source of pride. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the book and ensuring its transmission to future generations, noting that it contains valuable information about Khojaly and official documents related to the genocide.
The other speakers also highlighted that the information featured in the book about Khojaly’s intellectuals, public figures, and especially the Khojaly beys would be met with great interest.
