


Speaker of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye praises excellent organization of Baku session of OIC Parliamentary Union

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), on the sidelines of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States held in Baku.
During the meeting, the sides hailed the high level of development of the brotherly and allied relations between the two countries across all areas. They noted that Azerbaijan and Türkiye, guided by the motto "One nation, two states" coined by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, demonstrate solidarity and mutual support on all issues.
Emphasizing the important role of parliaments in further expanding bilateral relations, the speakers praised the current level of interparliamentary ties. They highlighted the significant contribution of reciprocal visits and meetings between parliamentary speakers, as well as close contacts among members of parliament. The sides noted that the legislative bodies of the two countries cooperate through parliamentary committees, friendship groups, and parliamentary administrations. They also emphasized that the parliaments work together in bilateral and trilateral formats and coordinate their efforts within international parliamentary organizations.
During the conversation, the GNAT Speaker fondly recalled his meeting earlier in the day with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and shared his positive impressions of the discussion.
Expressing gratitude for the excellent organization of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, Numan Kurtulmuş stressed the significance of the event in expanding cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and further deepening ties among the parliaments of member states.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
