Massive volcanic eruption in Vanuatu triggers tsunami risk

Baku, August 25, AZERTAC

A volcano on the island nation of Vanuatu in the South Pacific erupted on Tuesday, NHK WORLD-JAPAN reported.
Meteorological officials in Japan are working to determine whether it will have a possible impact on the country, including the arrival of tsunami waves.
The Japan Meteorological Agency says that a massive eruption occurred at around 6:40 p.m., Japan time, on Vanuatu's Ambae.
The atmospheric pressure caused by an eruption of that scale could trigger tsunami waves. The agency says any waves would possibly reach the Izu and Ogasawara islands in the Pacific around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the earliest.
The officials are urging people to follow the latest information.
