Rolling Stones legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards statues unveiled in their hometown

Baku, August 10, AZERTAC
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will forever be commemorated in their hometown of Dartford, Kent, as statues of the legendary Rolling Stones musicians were revealed in their place of origin on Wednesday, the spot where they initially crossed paths at the train station back in 1961, according to Marca.
Crafted from bronze and commissioned by Dartford Borough Council, these statues capture their essence remarkably. One depicts Richards energetically playing the guitar, while the other showcases Jagger frozen mid-dance move, clutching a microphone.
These artworks, known as The Glimmer Twins, were brought to life by Amy Goodman, an avid fan of the band. As reported by The Guardian, Goodman chose to portray the rock icons as they appeared in the '80s, stating.
Richards' daughter Angela and granddaughter Ava were reportedly present at the unveiling event in the town center's One Bell Corner.
"We want young creative people of today to get a little bit of the Mick and Keith spirit and pursue their dreams," Dartford Borough Council leader Jeremy Kite told BBC.
"It needn't be music, and they won't be as famous as the Rolling Stones, but if they go and do their thing in medicine, the arts, the environment, that would be fantastic. I want people to look at this and say, 'We're from Dartford, we can do that too.'"
Beyond the statues, Dartford has previously paid tribute to the Rolling Stones through the names of several streets, including Little Red Walk, Angie Mews, and Ruby Tuesday Drive.
