Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov has met with an Italian delegation, who arrived in Azerbaijan to attend a special session to mark the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The delegation includes President of the Permanent Commission on European Affairs of the Italian Senate Giulio Terzi, Head of the Friendship Group on Italy-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Relations Marco Scurria and member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Ettore Rosato.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the multifaceted strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy as well as discussed cooperation agenda in political, economic, energy and humanitarian spheres.
They underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in developing relations between the two countries, and stressed the role of reciprocal visits in this regard.
Deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov highlighted Azerbaijan's efforts to establish sustainable peace in the region during the post-conflict period as well as the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the liberated areas.
The Italian parliamentarians described Azerbaijan as an important strategic partner of Italy and a leading country in the region. They commended Azerbaijan's efforts to establish peace in the region.
The pair also exchanged views on Azerbaijan's role in Europe`s energy security, implementation of the international transport projects and other issues of mutual interest.
