Baku, July 29, AZERTAC Alpagut is a martial art that reflects the martial culture of the nomadic peoples living in the vicinity of the great steppe and is synthesized with modern martial arts. The name of the martial art means “Alpagut”: (Alp: Warrior, Gut: Sacred) “Holy Warrior”.Alpagut technique involves the use of a knife, bow shooting, sword, and horse racing. The fighting usually takes place in the wolf and falcon circle. Wolf and falcon circles are the totem that belongs to the Turkic world. The fight lasts two minutes.Alpagut martial art of the represent a deep philosophical and world-viewing meaning, represent and propagate the general cultural world-view of the warring peoples living in the great steppe geography and also conceptualizes modern martial arts and provides access to the global culture of ancient Turkic culture of warrior with deep philosophical and mystical roots. This concept of martial arts, embodying ethnocultural and multicultural philosophy, forms in children a sense of national pride, respect and love for the motherland, the state, as well as friendship and friendly relations between peoples.The basis of martial arts Alpagut: Yumruk – punch technique; Tepuk – kicking technique; Aycha– Crescent Moon techniques; Atysh – throw technique; Badalag – tripping technique; Bagdamag – pain techniques; Boguchan – choke techniques; Coruy – Defensive Techniques.The norms specified in each stage are determined by the belts, and the belt colors are applied to the side colors. BATI (West) – white color; DOGU (East) – blue color; GUNEY (South) – red color; KUSEY (north) – black color.These combat systems are called: 1st system: AYCHA, 2nd system: BATUR, 3rd system: CHAIMAZ, 4th system: GURSHAG. The score refers to Sargut > Achar > Utku scores and Penalty points are applied with Gynag score.In order to develop this sport in the international arena, the Alpagut World Federation was registered as an international organization on February 12, 2014. This martial art was registered in Azerbaijan with all legal rights.In 2016, Azerbaijan finished first in the overall medal table of the 1st Alpagut World Cup held in Batumi, Georgia, with Azerbaijani fighters wining 51 medals, including 24 golds, 22 silvers and 5 bronzes.In 2017, Baku hosted 2nd World Alpagut Cup, bringing together more than 300 fighters from 15 countries. The tournament was organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, World Alpagut Federation and Azerbaijan Alpagut Federation at Sarhadchi Sport Complex on November 24-26.Azerbaijan also took first place in the overall medal table of the 2nd World Alpagut Championship held in Baku, on in 2019, while Turkey ranked second followed by Iran.
