Mick Schumacher drives dad Michael's soon-to-be-auctioned title-winning Ferrari
Baku, November 16, AZERTAC
One of the most iconic and successful Formula 1 cars of all time, Michael Schumacher’s F2002, is set to take centre stage in the first ever auction held by Formula 1 and RM Sotheby’s, and taking place in Abu Dhabi on November 30, according to the official website of Formula1.
The Ferrari, the very one Schumacher drove at the 2002 French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours to secure his fifth drivers’ title, will go under the hammer in the run up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix season finale, alongside a host of other exotic machinery.
To mark the occasion of the car going to auction, RM Sotheby’s also teamed up with Schumacher’s F2-racing son Mick, to shoot a film of him piloting the F2002 – estimated to fetch between $5.5-7.5 million – around Ferrari’s private Fiorano test track.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale, meanwhile, will be donated to Schumacher’s Keep Fighting Foundation, a charity founded by his family to continue the seven-time champion’s charitable work.
