Azerbaijan, Italy hail bilateral ties

Azerbaijan and Italy have praised the bilateral relations as Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with a delegation led by President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Senate Vito Rosario Petrocelli. The delegation included member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Gianluca Ferrara and deputy head of the Secretariat of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate Gianluca Polverari.
Hailing relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, Minister Mammadyarov noted the importance of developing the bilateral ties. He stressed the significance of timely completion of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, describing it as a key component of the Southern Gas Corridor. The minister emphasized the energy cooperation.
Petrocelli noted the importance of developing cultural relations and people-to-people contacts along with the necessity of strengthening the economic and trade ties. Commending Azerbaijan for supporting the “One belt, One road” initiative, the Italian official emphasized that the positions of the two countries coincided on that issue.
Minister Mammadyarov highlighted the regional transport and transit projects, of which Azerbaijan is the linchpin, as well as the development of East-West connectivity strategy.
They discussed Italy`s contribution to Azerbaijan-EU cooperation, as well as regional security issues.
