Latvian Foreign Minister to take part in General Affairs Council in Luxembourg

On June 18, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics will take part in the meeting of the EU General Affairs Council, LETA reports.
At the meeting, the Romanian Presidency will continue discussions with representatives from EU member states on progress in negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2021–2027. The member state representatives will then go ahead with preparations for the European Council meeting on June 20-21.
The participants are also expected to examine the Council conclusions on the process of EU enlargement, stabilization and association.
The European Commission will present to the member state representatives a horizontal report on progress with the implementation of the country-specific recommendations as part of the European Semester ahead of transmitting the document to the June European Council for approval.
The meetings of the General Affairs Council are held on a monthly basis, and in the first half of 2019 they are chaired by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
