At least 16 people were killed while 36 others remained missing in flash floods caused by heavy rains on Thursday in northwestern China, according to Anadolu Agency.
The gushing waters came down from a mountain in the Datong county of northwestern China's Qinghai province, the Chinese daily Global Times reported.
Local authorities have launched rescue and relief operations.
