Chairman of Caucasus Muslims` Clerical Office attends Crans Montana Forum

Baku, October 22 (AzerTAc). Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims` Clerical Office Allahshukur Pashazade participated, as a special guest of ISESCO and UNESCO, in the session “Improving the peaceful and structuring role of religions” of the 15th Crans Montana Forum held in Brussels, Belgium.
Opening the event, ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri gave floor to Allahshukur Pashazade to speak first.
Pashazade pointed out that religious leaders should realize their responsibility for achieving peace and prosperity. He said that interreligious dialogue is inevitable against the backdrop of global threats. Pashazade stressed the need to respond to those who distort the major essence of a human being who denies violence, terror and extremism.
He noted that Azerbaijan is the successful example of tolerance for the world, adding there are good ties between religious associations in the country and state-religion relations are well developed. The Azerbaijani clerical leader pointed out that Azerbaijan plays a role of bridge between various civilizations.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Pashazade pointed out that he, as a religious figure, welcomes all efforts directed towards resolution of the dispute on the basis of international legal norms and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The next day, Prince Jean de Luxembourg presented a Crans Montana Forum gold medal to Allahshukur Pashazade for his peaceful activities.
Pashazade evaluated this as an assessment of contribution of all Caucasus`s clerics.
In a one-on-one meeting with founder and president of the forum, ambassador Jean-Paul Carteron, Pashazade discussed the prospects for cooperation in intercultural and interreligious dialogue.
