March 31- Day of Azerbaijanis Genocide commemorated in China

Azerbaijani Embassy in China held an event dedicated to March 31- the Day of Azerbaijanis Genocide.
Following a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the massacre, Ambassador Latif Gandilov noted the tragedy Azerbaijani person suffered in 1918 was one of the most terrible crimes. The diplomat spoke about Bolshevik and Armenian Dashnak’s terror attacks lead by Shaumian in Baku, Shamakhi, Guba, Lankaran, Salyan, Zangazur and Nakhchivan provinces.
The Ambassador said national leader Heydar Aliyev’s 1998 March 26 Decree on “Genocide of Azerbaijanis” shed light on the dark pages of the history. He noted that Guba Genocide Memorial Complex constructed with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation has its unique role in informing the world about the tragic event.
Counselor of the Embassy Metin Mirza spoke about the activities to inform the world about the genocide of Azerbaijanis. He noted that US New-Jersey State General Assembly has adopted a resolution to commemorate the massacre on March 31. The genocide of Azerbaijanis was recognized with resolutions and proclamation in some of the US states.
“The Baku Massacre” - a documentary reflecting Armenian aggression against Azerbaijanis was demonstrated at the event.
The Embassy’s information and Azerbaijani Ombudsman’s statement on March 31 Genocide was forwarded to accredited embassies, China’s Foreign Ministry, Academy of International Relations, Euro-Asian Social Development Research Institute and Social Sciences Academy.
