Religious communities of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan discuss cooperation

Astana, September 26 (AzerTAc). Chairman of the Clerical Office of Caucasian Muslims Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade has met Mufti of Kazakhstan Erjan Mayamerov in “Hazrat Sultan” Mosque in Astana.
The meeting saw discussion on cooperation between religious communities of the two countries.
The two hailed the bilateral ties in all areas, including religious one. The major religious leaders stressed importance of jointly holding of conferences and meetings to further develop relationship.
Talking about “Hazrat Sultan” Mosque, the Mufti said the construction of the mosque was started in 2009 and commissioned in 2012. The building is constructed in the classic Islamic style using traditional Kazakh ornaments. The mosque standing on the right bank of the Yesil River is located near the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, and a monument “Kazakh Eli”. The mosque can accommodate five thousand people, and up to ten thousand people during the holidays. The total area of the mosque is more than 11 hectares, and the area of the buildings is 17.700 square meters.
“Hazrat Sultan” has the largest dome in Kazakhstan (51 meters height, 28.1 meters width). The height of each of the four minarets is 77 meters.
