Guba hosts international conference dedicated to 1918-1920 genocide against Azerbaijani people
Baku, March 29 (AzerTAc). An International scientific conference themed “1918-1920 genocide against the Azerbaijani people” kicked off on Friday in Guba town of Azerbaijan.
Organized by the Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Guba Region Executive Authority, the conference has brought together historians from Germany, Russia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Georgia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Romania and the other countries. Prior to the conference, the participants visited the Guba Genocide Cemetery.
German participant of the conference, author of the book “Khojaly” Rolf Kunsch told journalists that Azerbaijan’s efforts towards recognition of this genocide are estimable: “This is an act of genocide,” he said.
Member of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship group Tulay Selamoghlu said that this genocide was committed not only against Azerbaijanis, but also against all Turks. He also emphasized that researchers need to promote recognition of this genocide by the world community.
Over 40 scientists and researchers delivered lectures at the conference.
