Azerbaijan, FAO discuss cooperation

Baku, February 19 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s minister of agriculture Ismat Abbasov has today met Mustapha Sinaceur, Subregional Coordinator for Central Asia of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
The two discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, including prospects for cooperation, establishing FAO`s office for partnership and coordination in Azerbaijan, as well as effectiveness of joint projects.
Minister Abbasov informed about the country`s achievements in the agrarian sphere as a result of economic development founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev and being effectively continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He also highlighted the state`s care and attention to this field.
The minister hailed projects implemented by FAO in Azerbaijan, considering this tendency as “reasonable”.
Mustapha Sinaceur said he would spare no efforts to contribute to development of FAO-Azerbaijan relations.
On behalf of FAO`s director general, the Subregional Coordinator invited Azerbaijan`s minister to take part in a conference of the organization to be held in June in Rome.
FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy.
