Mosque to be rebuilt in Vilnius

Vilnius, January 18 (AzerTAc). Muslims living in Vilnius, Lithuania, do not lose their hope for the restoration of the mosque. The site of the old mosque is built over by various buildings of the Institute of Chemistry, Theoretical Physics and Astronomy of Vilnius University. The Muslim community of Lithuania asks the government to allocate the area of 2 hectares in Vilnius for the construction of Mosque.
Mufti of the Muslim community of Lithuania Romas Jakubauskas said about the site being negotiated with the local government. "The mosque should be built within the boundaries of Vilnius, but not in the boondocks. It should be comfortable for parking and the territory should not be crowded with houses," said Yakubauskas.
According to Mufti, now Lithuanian Muslims pray indoors the Muftiate in Vilnius. They include local Muslims, students, tourists and visitors. There are four mosques functioning In Lithuania. They are located in Kaunas, Nemezhis, Soroka Tatar village and Rayzhyay.
