International conference on plant genetic resources kicks off in Baku

Baku, October 3 (AzerTAc). An international conference on study of the plant genetic diversity to achieve climate change sustainability has today started in Azerbaijan`s capital.
The co-organizers of the conference are the Genetic Resources Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in Mexico (CİMMYT), the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (İCARDA) in Halab and the International Biodiversity Institute in Rome.
The conference brings together about 40 scientists from 15 countries, and more than 100 experts from Azerbaijan.
The conference features discussions on productive utilization of plant genetic resources to meet the need of the growing world population and ensure food security.
