Baku, March 31 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Morocco has organized a commemorative event to mark 31 March - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
The event was attended by ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Allali, ambassadors, members of Morocco-Azerbaijan Friendship Society.
Opening the event, Ambassador Sabir Agabayov briefed the participants on the massacres committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1918. The diplomat noted the state-level political evaluation of the criminal acts of Armenians against the Azeri people was given only by the Decree of the national leader Heydar Aliyev “On the genocide of Azerbaijanis” dated 26 March, 1998. Agabayov described the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a continuation of the policy of genocide and deportation realized by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1905-1906, 1918-1920, 1948-1953 and 1988-1989.
The Embassy has sent press-release on the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, diplomatic representations, “Le matin” and “L'Opinion” newspapers.
