Azerbaijan to increase grain production volumes in 2011

Baku, December 25 (AzerTAc). Next year Azerbaijan may produce about 2.5 mln tons of grains, which will exceed the current year rates, stated Ismet Abbasov, the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, on December 23, the agri-market.info website reported. .
Next years grain production volumes will face an increase, and the production volume in 2009 is the confirmation for it, when the country produced 3 mln tons, stated I. Abbasov.
While commenting the issue of the VAT cancellation for grain imports from December 1, 2010, the Minister said that the step was initiated, in order to prevent the artificial bread prices increase.
In future, the VAT cancellation will create the conditions, when grain prices increase in the countries-importers does not affect bread prices in Azerbaijan, stated the Minister.
According to him, next year the import needs will have place to be, because before own commodities production it is necessary to form stocks in the country.
In Azerbaijan, grain needs total 3 mln tons, however the part of sowing areas is under the water as a result of the natural disaster in the central part of the Republic in the spring 2010, that is why, grain production volumes decreased compared to the last year level, when the country reached the record volumes of commodities. As of December 1, the country produced 1864.2 thsd tons of grains.
