INT`L SEMINAR ON POULTRY KEEPING KICKS OFF IN BAKU

Baku, May 17 (AzerTAc). Today Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and State Veterinary Service under the Azeri Ministry of Agriculture co-organized the international seminar themed “Biosecurity for the poultry farming and poultry industry” in Baku.
The seminar has brought together national coordinators and poultry industry workers from FAO, Azerbaijan, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and countries of the Central Asia.
Deputy Minister of agriculture Bahram Aliyev, Head of the State Veterinary Service Siala Rustamova, Head of the FAO’s Azerbaijan office Tarana Bashirova delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
The participants briefed the audience that this is the second seminar on bird flu being held in Azerbaijan. They also emphasized that much progress has been achieved in Azerbaijan in the field of the guaranteeing biosecurity. The seminar also focused on how the flu began and how its virus had mutated and eventually began affecting human beings.
The seminar participants will discuss current status of H5N1, risk factors in poultry farming, insight into the biosecurity, its application in Central Asia and other issues.
