ICESCO Baku Regional Office to participate in 12th International Book Fair with special pavilion
Baku, October 16, AZERTAC
The ICESCO Baku Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) will showcase a special cultural and educational program at the 12th Baku International Book Fair from October 21 to 25, the ICESCO Baku Regional Office told AZERTAC.
“We are delighted to take part in the Baku International Book Fair, organized by our valued partner, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. A book fair is a meeting place for ideas, people and cultures, creating connections across languages, generations and borders. For the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku, it is an opportunity to celebrate our shared heritage while exploring new ideas- from calligraphy and the Silk Roads to artificial intelligence and the creativity of a new generation,” said Dr Abdulhakeem AlSenan, Regional Director of the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku.
Throughout the five-day Book Fair, the ICESCO Pavilion will feature a dedicated video and presentation showcasing the mandate, strategic priorities, key activities and achievements of the ICESCO Regional Office in Baku. Presented daily, this showcase will highlight the Office’s work in strengthening regional cooperation and advancing ICESCO’s mission across education, science, culture and communication.
The programme will bring together officials, academics, scholars, experts and cultural figures from Azerbaijan and ICESCO Member States, creating opportunities for dialogue, knowledge exchange and cultural cooperation.
The opening session will explore the literary, artistic and cultural heritage of Shusha and the role of books and translation in strengthening cultural links between Azerbaijan and the Arab world.
It will also feature the presentation of the Arabic edition of a book on Shusha, highlighting translation as a means of sharing knowledge, preserving cultural heritage and fostering mutual understanding across languages and cultures.
Alongside the thematic sessions, the ICESCO Pavilion will host a live calligraphy demonstration led by Rubab Zahra, Guinness World Record holder, calligraphy and abstract artist, and art consultant.
The cultural programme will also feature traditional dance performances by children from the Republican Children and Youth Development Centre, showcasing the cultural traditions and artistic heritage of five ICESCO Member States: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
