Azerbaijan’s winter tourism potential presented to Chinese travel agencies

Baku, October 16, AZERTAC

With its diverse tourism offerings and growing range of seasonal experiences, Azerbaijan is continuing to strengthen its presence in the Chinese market and promote its regional destinations. On October 16, the Beijing office of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board (ATB), together with Shahdag Mountain Resort, hosted a destination presentation for more than 10 established Beijing-based travel agencies, introducing them to Azerbaijan’s winter tourism opportunities.
As Azerbaijan approaches the winter season, Shahdag Mountain Resort offers an opportunity to expand the range of experiences available to Chinese travelers. The presentation highlighted the resort’s winter tourism offerings and explored ways to incorporate these experiences into travel programmes featuring Azerbaijan.
The session also provided a platform for Azerbaijani tourism businesses and Chinese travel trade partners to exchange information and explore opportunities for cooperation. By showcasing the country’s diverse tourism resources and regional experiences, the initiative aimed to help travel agencies broaden their Azerbaijan travel offerings and introduce Chinese travelers to more destinations across the country.
Through continued engagement with the Chinese travel trade, the ATB’s China office seeks to strengthen industry connections, help Azerbaijani tourism businesses reach the Chinese market, and encourage more Chinese visitors to discover Azerbaijan through convenient travel arrangements and quality tourism services.
In September 2026, the number of Chinese citizens visiting Azerbaijan increased by 28 percent compared with the same month last year, reaching 11,049. From January to September 2026, a total of 52,115 Chinese citizens visited Azerbaijan, representing a 4.4 percent increase compared with the same period in 2025.
