The presentation of the book “Exploring Intersections Between Nizami and Dante: Before and After Medievality” was held at Palazzo Firenze, one of Rome’s historic 16th-century landmarks and the headquarters of the Dante Alighieri Society.
The book, compiled by Rahilya Geybullayeva, Nunzio Ruggiero and Maria Teresa Giaveri, includes 31 monographs by authors from seven countries, including Azerbaijan, Italy, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, the UK and the US.
The book is based on materials from the "Cross-Cultural Matches: Nizami and Dante" conference held in Baku in 2021.
Speakers included representatives of the Dante Alighieri Society, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Italy, and leading Italian and Azerbaijani universities and research institutions. They highlighted the book’s role as a bridge between Islamic and Christian medieval literary traditions, noting the similarities and differences between the poetic worlds of Nizami Ganjavi and Dante Alighieri.
The book explores cultural connections between Nizami Ganjavi and Dante Alighieri, providing a comparative analysis of their literary works. Published by Brill, the leading international academic publisher, the book was previously presented at ADA University in Baku in April 2026.
