Another panel session titled “Capital Markets as a Catalyst for Diversification: UK Perspectives on Azerbaijan’s Growth Journey" was organized in Baku on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum under the patronage of President Ilham Aliyev.
The panel session featured discussions on the role of capital markets in economic diversification, the expansion of financing opportunities, and the UK's experience in the field.
Moderated by Guy Shone, Global Chief Editor of AnewZ, the session organized in partnership with "TheCityUK" and the "London Stock Exchange Group" (LSEG) - leading institutions representing the UK's financial and business sectors.
Speakers included Ayuna Nechaeva, Head of Europe, Primary Markets of the London Stock Exchange Group; Natalia Sergeeva, Co-Head of Global Business Origination at UK Export Finance (UKEF); Ruslan Khalilov, Chief Executive Officer at Baku Stock Exchange; Ilona Karpanos, Associate Partner for the International Trade and Economic Development at Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce, and Desislava Radeva, Executive Director for Development and Agency Finance at Standard Chartered Bank.
During the discussions, event participants exchanged views on the role of capital markets in supporting economic diversification and private sector development, as well as on expanding companies' access to financial resources, attracting investments, and deepening capital markets.
They also shared their views on the UK's experience in capital markets and financial services, opportunities for cooperation with international financial institutions, and the expansion of local companies' access to international capital markets.
The gathering highlighted the significance of capital market development in terms of economic diversification, expanding business financing opportunities, and encouraging long-term investments.
