The first day of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) has concluded.
At the opening ceremony, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov read out President Ilham Aliyev’s address to the forum participants.
The first day featured discussions on global economic trends, Azerbaijan’s investment opportunities, regional connectivity and sectoral cooperation. Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic position and investment potential, while a panel with Nouriel Roubini, CEO of Roubini Macro Associates, and Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews, examined global economic prospects and investment trends.
Valerio De Molli, Managing Partner and CEO of The European House – Ambrosetti, delivered a presentation titled “Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus: A Central Hub for Investment Growth.” He highlighted investment opportunities in Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus, regional connectivity, and the region’s evolving role in the global economy.
Discussions also revolved around global growth, investment, connectivity, the Middle Corridor, AI, regional partnerships, energy, green transition and economic security. Several cooperation documents were signed, while special sessions focused on investment and trade opportunities with Africa, the UK and Germany.
Thus, the first day of AIIF 2026 was marked by discussions on global economic challenges and investment prospects, presentations of Azerbaijan’s regional economic and investment opportunities, and efforts to expand international cooperation across various areas.
