Baku, September 25, AZERTAC On September 25, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, met with a visiting Georgian parliamentary delegation led by Nino Tsilosani, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia.Sahiba Gafarova stated that the historic bonds of friendship and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia continue to develop successfully today, based on mutual trust and strategic partnership.The Azerbaijani Speaker hailed the special role of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the formation and development of relations between the two countries.She also said that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Georgia consistently emphasize the strategic importance of bilateral relations, adding that, in this regard, high-level reciprocal visits play a significant role in developing relations.According to her, the recent state visit of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to Georgia conveyed important political messages on regional cooperation, helping to further strengthen the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Georgia and cooperation in the region.Nino Tsilosani expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.She stressed that the statement issued by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the so-called elections held in Georgia’s occupied territories was highly appreciated, as it was viewed as an important political message.The meeting also featured discussions on economic ties.The sides highlighted the importance of participating in the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum and emphasized the forum’s significance for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.They also noted that interparliamentary relations constitute a key aspect of Azerbaijan-Georgia relations.It was underscored that the presentation of the Georgian Parliament’s “Honor” Medal to Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is an indicator of the high level of interparliamentary relations between the two countries.The Azerbaijani Speaker praised the medal presented to her, describing it as a reflection of the high value placed on interparliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia.
