Viorel Gutu, Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, visited the renovated Laboratory, Expertise and Certification Center of the Agricultural Services Agency (ASA) under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture within the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Programme.
Viorel Gutu familiarized himself with the laboratory's operations, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev and ASA Chairman Sardar Hajiyev.
The FAO Assistant Director-General was briefed on the Laboratory’s activities, services, modern analysis methods, as well as technical capabilities.
The meeting also highlighted efforts on the diagnosis of plant diseases, laboratory testing of agricultural products, and the analysis of irrigation water.
Viorel Gutu hailed the Laboratory, Expertise and Certification Center for successfully completing the proficiency test of FAO’s Global Soil Laboratory Network (GLOSOLAN), emphasizing that the achievement is a significant indicator of the laboratory's technical capabilities and high professional standards.
