Baku, September 25, AZERTAC A panel session entitled “Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World: Azerbaijan as a Strategic Gateway Between Regions” was organized in Baku on the sidelines of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum under the patronage of President Ilham Aliyev.Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, highlighted issues related to changes in the global economic environment, the country’s role in regional and international economic relations, the expansion of investment opportunities, and the enhancement of its position in production and regional value chains.A high-level discussion on “Global Economic Outlook” was held between Nouriel Roubini, Economist and Strategist and CEO of Roubini Macro Associates, and Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews. The discussion provided a broader perspective on the changing global economic landscape and key trends shaping global growth and investment.Following the discussion, Valerio De Molli, CEO and Managing Partner of The European House – Ambrosetti and TEHA Group, delivered a presentation entitled “Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus: A Central Hub for Investment Growth.”Speaking at a high-level panel discussion titled “Shaping the Future of Global Growth, Investment and Connectivity,” moderated by Jane Witherspoon, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov stated that, amid global investment flows, Azerbaijan is systematically pursuing regional integration through a peace agenda, the development of transport and logistics, and the creation of a digital economy environment.According to him, the country has reconstructed the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and increased its throughput capacity several times, while the Baku International Sea Trade Port has also been expanded.He also provided insight into the opportunities created for investors by the Alat Free Economic Zone.Other speakers included Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade; Aleem Khan, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications; Besar Durmishi, North Macedonia’s Minister of Economy and Labour; Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry; and Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade.Participants exchanged views on the impact of global economic and geopolitical processes on the economic development of countries, the expansion of regional cooperation and investment ties, and the creation of new economic opportunities.Economist and Strategist Nouriel Roubini, CEO of Roubini Macro Associates, also commented on the discussions as an expert.
