The Turkic Chess Association has held its General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Chaired by Ilaha Gadimova, General Secretary of the Chess Association of Turkic-Speaking Countries, the event featured discussions on the organization's development strategy through 2030.
The project includes the establishment of a joint chess academy, the organization of new international tournaments, and the implementation of programs for the professional training of coaches and arbiters.
The strategy envisages the establishment of the Turkic Chess Academy, a platform designed to bring together the expertise of the rich chess traditions found in the member countries.
The academy will facilitate joint training programs for coaches and referees, knowledge-sharing initiatives, seminars and educational courses, while the adoption of digital technologies in chess and the exchange of specialists in the field will be among its key priorities.
The project will also significantly expand the tournament calendar, with the association aiming to organize more team and individual competitions as well as joint training camps. Special tournaments are also planned for junior players and veteran chess enthusiasts.
Azerbaijan was represented at the event by Mahir Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and FIDE vice-president.
