Baku, July 31, AZERTAC Bulgaria's annual inflation slowed to 4.1% in July, as measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported citing the Eurostat on Friday.The annual inflation rate eased from 5.2% in June and 6.3% in May, when Bulgaria recorded its highest inflation since September 2023, according to BTA's reference in Eurostat's database. Despite the slowdown, the country ranked second in the euro area for annual inflation, behind Latvia (5.6%).Consumer prices rose by 0.4% in July compared with June, marking the seventh-largest month-on-month increase among EU member states.Annual inflation in the euro area accelerated slightly to 2.9% in July from 2.8% in June.After Latvia and Bulgaria, Cyprus, Spain and Croatia recorded the highest annual inflation rates in the euro area, while Estonia, Malta and France posted the lowest.Energy remained the main driver of euro area inflation, while services inflation edged higher. By contrast, inflation for food, alcohol and tobacco slowed, whereas prices of non-energy industrial goods increased at a slightly faster pace.
