9 policemen, 15 militants killed in clash in NW Pakistan
Baku, July 30, AZERTAC
At least nine police personnel and 15 militants were killed after militants attacked a police check post in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Xinhua reported.
The attack targeted the Khazina Banda check post in Hangu district, where police repulsed the assault. Reinforcements sent to the area were ambushed en route, damaging an armored personnel carrier, police said.
Police noted that 15 militants were killed and several others wounded in the ensuing operation, which was still underway at the time of the statement.
Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed praised the officers' response and said operations against militants would continue across the province.
