“Georgia and Turkmenistan are not merely trading partners; our countries serve as vital bridges between Europe and Asia, sharing a mutual interest in bolstering regional connectivity and international trade. Leveraging these shared strategic advantages, we attach utmost importance to the development of the Middle Corridor,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced during his address at the Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum, 1TV.ge reported.
According to the Head of Government, Georgia is committed to continuously upgrading its transport and logistics infrastructure to ensure the Middle Corridor becomes faster, more efficient, and highly competitive.
“Georgia’s strategic position in the Black Sea region offers us a unique opportunity to act as a pivotal link connecting European markets, Asian economies, and international transport routes. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan, as one of Central Asia’s leading economic powers, stands out for its rich natural resources and expanding export capabilities.
By building upon these shared strategic advantages, we place exceptional importance on developing the Middle Corridor. This route is increasingly gaining global significance, creating new avenues for the transit of goods between Europe and Asia.
Georgia will continue to strengthen its transport and logistics infrastructure to make the Middle Corridor faster, more efficient, and more competitive. Crucial to this process are the modernization of Georgian Railway, the expansion of the East-West Highway, and the construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. By government decision, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port will be built using the landlord model. Under this framework, the state retains ownership of the port land and basic infrastructure, allowing us to develop the port in partnership with multiple nations and corporations simultaneously. This creates the absolute best conditions for attracting freight traffic,” the Prime Minister stated.
