Following European success, designer Kamilla Mammadzada unveils exclusive collection with Yes Couture in Azerbaijan

The world of high fashion recently converged with a premier symbol of national culture at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, merging historical artistry with modern couture.

"Patterns of Time" Fashion Show
During a special fashion show titled "Patterns of Time," Azerbaijani designers showcased breathtaking collections inspired directly by the historic carpet ornaments preserved in the museum's archives. Dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the prominent artist Latif Karimov, this initiative seamlessly blended traditional Azerbaijani carpet-weaving heritage with contemporary fashion trends. The event drew a distinguished crowd, with Alyona Aliyeva in attendance as a special guest.
A Story of Generational Succession
A standout segment of the showcase was the debut collection by young Azerbaijani designer Kamilla Mammadzada, which was co-created with the "Yes Couture" fashion house, spearheaded by Yegana Sadikhova. By uniting different generations of designers over a shared reverence for Azerbaijani carpets and their intricate patterns, the project has been hailed as a true narrative of generational succession.
The unveiled collection served as a brilliant example of interpreting Azerbaijani carpet art through a modern lens. The traditional motifs, color harmonies, and structural fluidities were organically integrated into modern silhouettes, all while preserving strong ties to their cultural roots. The showcase proved that Azerbaijan's carpet-weaving legacy can thrive dynamically and authentically within the modern design lexicon.
From Childhood Dream to Professional Reality
According to Mammadzada, her affinity for fashion blossomed during her childhood, largely influenced by her mother, who frequently brought her to the "Yes Couture" fashion house. Observing Yegana Sadikhova's creative process firsthand planted the seed for her dream of one day launching her own collection.
Three years ago, this lifelong passion crystallized into a deliberate career path when Mammadzada enrolled in the "Simoorg Fashion & Design Academy." Reflecting on her education, the designer shared:
"Under the guidance of Ms. Hadiyya, I learned the fundamentals of fashion design—from conceptualizing sketches and preparing collections to working intricately with colors, fabrics, and garment details. Every single lesson fortified my ambition to grow within this profession."
Mammadzada highlighted that witnessing her initial sketches come to life on the runway remains one of her greatest professional triumphs. She strives to harmonize national traditions, elegance, and modern trends within her creations, asserting that fashion is a profound medium for expressing one's worldview, culture, and individuality. Looking forward, the young designer aims to represent Azerbaijani fashion with distinction on the international stage.
Rising International Acclaim
Kamilla Mammadzada has already begun making significant waves across Europe as an emerging talent. Her recent international milestones include:
• Miss Europa Pageant (Naples, Italy): On November 13-14 of last year, she served as the exclusive designer for the stage outfits of the pageant's winning contestants.
• 79th Cannes Film Festival (Cannes, France): Earlier this year, on May 18, she was honored with the prestigious "Successful Young Designer of the Year" award during the festival.
With her debut collection successfully launched at the National Carpet Museum, Mammadzada continues to cement her place as a rising star in both the domestic and global fashion arenas.
