A commemorative event dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held in London, United Kingdom.
The participants first observed a minute of silence to honor the memory of the Khojaly tragedy victims.
Addressing the event, Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the UK, recounted the tragedy, highlighting the grave consequences of the massacre committed against Azerbaijani civilians in Khojaly on February 26, 1992. He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to convey the truth about the tragedy to a broader audience, as well as the biased approaches and efforts of several powers to hinder this process. The diplomat also underscored that Azerbaijan has restored its territorial integrity under the leadership of President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.
Narmina Mammadova, founder of the “War Through Children’s Eyes” project, highlighted her personal wartime experience, describing the Khojaly tragedy not as mere figures, but as broken families and lifelong wounds that never heal. She noted that the project's activities were extensively covered by local media outlets such as ITV News.
Farida Panahova, Chairperson of the British Azerbaijani Community, stressed the importance of conveying the truth about the Khojaly genocide to a wider audience and future generations.
The event featured a screening of a video interview with Sayavush Huseynov, a resident of the Zangilan district, who lost his family members during the First Garabagh War.
