


Azerbaijan welcomes over 180,000 foreign citizens in January 2026

A total of 181,637 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in January 2026, representing an increase of 8,984 people, or 5 percent, compared to the same period last year, according to the State Tourism Agency.
During the reported period, the number of visitors from Russia reached 42,342, marking a 2 percent increase; 36,536 people visited from Türkiye, an increase of 15.5 percent; and 15,399 people came from Iran, up 2.1 percent.
In the South Asia region, arrivals from India totaled 9,070, while arrivals from Saudi Arabia, the main market in the Middle East, rose to 8,976, an increase of 2,783 people, or 44.9 percent, compared to January 2025, official figures showed.
Other top countries of origin included Georgia (8,734), Pakistan (6,758), Kazakhstan (5,676), Uzbekistan (5,130), and Israel (4,972).
