Astara Checkpoint: Another group of foreign citizens evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan
Astara, June 23, AZERTAC
As part of another phase of evacuation through the "Astara" state border check point, citizens of various countries – including China, Sri Lanka, Canada, and the United States – entered the territory of Azerbaijan.
These individuals were forced to leave Iran due to the recent developments in the country. The evacuees were provided with the necessary documentation in advance in accordance with international protocols and were admitted through the checkpoint by Azerbaijani border officers following precise and prompt procedures.
At the assistance zone set up at the border checkpoint, the arrivals underwent initial medical screening and received psychological support services.
Several foreign countries have appealed to the Government of Azerbaijan, requesting assistance in facilitating the return of their citizens from Iran to their respective countries via Azerbaijan as a transit route.
