Baku hosts Seventh Solidarity Forum of Azerbaijani Volunteers

The Seventh Solidarity Forum of Azerbaijani Volunteers, dedicated to the “Green World Solidarity Year,” took place at the Baku Convention Center, gathering over 3,000 volunteers from across the country.
Held as part of “Volunteer Week of Azerbaijan 2024” from December 5 to 16, the forum was supported by the Youth Foundation, Union of Volunteer Organizations, Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Youth and Sports, "ASAN Xidmet," and IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union.
The event included a career exhibition and an art exhibition titled “From Waste to Art,” showcasing works created by volunteers using recycled materials, such as plastic and plastic bags. These exhibitions, organized with the support of the State Employment Agency of Azerbaijan, aimed to promote volunteer employment and career development.
The forum opened with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, followed by the reading of President Ilham Aliyev's message to participants by Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports.
Key speakers included Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports; Vugar Karimov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources; Gadir Khalilov, Executive Director of the Youth Foundation; Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency; and others. They emphasized the significance of volunteering, the development of the movement, and the active participation of Azerbaijani volunteers at the COP29 international climate conference. The speakers also highlighted the robust state support for volunteer initiatives in Azerbaijan.
The forum featured video presentations showcasing projects aimed at improving Azerbaijan's ecological conditions and promoting environmental awareness among volunteers.
During the event, the Volunteer of the Year 2024 awards were presented in five categories.
