Azerbaijan's “Tandir craftsmanship and bread baking” added to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Azerbaijan’s "Tandir craftsmanship and bread baking" has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held in Asunción, Paraguay, from December 2-7.
The successful nomination reflects the rich cultural traditions of the Azerbaijani people. In his remarks, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Ambassador Elman Abdullayev, expressed gratitude to the UNESCO Evaluation Body and the Intergovernmental Committee for their support of Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage.
Saadat Yusifova, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture, described the inclusion of “Tandir craftsmanship” as a milestone for the Azerbaijani people, highlighting the ancient traditions behind it.
With this addition, the total number of Azerbaijan's cultural elements listed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage lists has reached 24.
