Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29 reflects President Ilham Aliyev's achievements
Tbilisi, November 2, AZERTAC
“Azerbaijan’s hosting of COP29 is a significant initiative and stands as a testament to President Ilham Aliyev's accomplishments. Climate change is one of the most pressing global issues, yet many may not fully grasp the gravity of this challenge. Nowadays, climate-related events such as storms and earthquakes claim the lives of hundreds of thousands,” said Anatoly Lis, Ambassador of Belarus to Georgia, in an interview with AZERTAC.
He emphasized that climate change and global warming are critical issues requiring urgent action. “The more seriously we address this issue, the sooner we can resolve it. Nations with higher carbon emissions should take the lead,” the ambassador stated.
“Belarus is also making strides to protect nature. We have a nuclear power plant and, although we previously used certain chemicals, we have preserved our natural reserves. Belarus’s forests cover 40% of our territory, one of the few regions like this left in Europe, and we’re ready to share our experience with other countries,” he added.
"We are now in an era of alternative energy, where it’s possible to harness power from the sun, wind, and water,” noted Ambassador Lis, commending Azerbaijan's considerable contributions toward this goal.
