‘We need to enhance dialogue on halal investment, including Islamic banks and Sukuk’

Baku, October 8, AZERTAC
“Along with the opportunities to attract Muslim travelers to halal tourism, and promoting destinations that meet their cultural and religious needs, we should also enhance our dialogue on halal investment tools, including the development of areas such as Islamic banks and Sukuk (Islamic bond),” said Mammad Musayev, President of Azerbaijan’s National Confederation of Entrepreneurs, as he addressed opening ceremony of the Azerbaijan Halal Business and Tourism Forum (AZHAB).
"In addition to bordering on major Muslim countries, we share the same roots with 70 million Muslims living in Central Asia. Moreover, if we take into account that 30 million Muslim peoples living on the territory of Russia are mostly located in the Caucasus, Azerbaijan can be considered as a "Halal destination" in this geography,” he added.
According to Musayev, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD) listed Azerbaijan among the top 10 Islamic countries with the most developed agriculture. "Azerbaijan’s potential in production of organic agricultural products is highly appreciated," he emphasized.
