199-year-old Karabakh carpet donated to Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum

The Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum has been enriched with a unique art piece. Hojat Abasi, a collector and member of the Azerbaijan Literary and Culture Society “Ishiq Yol”, residing in Berlin, Germany, has donated a 199-year-old Karabakh carpet, known as Achma-yumma, woven in Shusha in 1825.
He expressed his satisfaction in fulfilling his dream of exhibiting this exquisite piece in his native land, specifically at the Shusha branch of the museum. Amina Melikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, conveyed her heartfelt gratitude to Hojat Abasi for this generous donation. She highlighted that the Achma-yumma carpet, noted for its remarkable composition, color harmony, and intricate ornaments, will be a prominent addition to the Shusha branch's collection.
The carpet features geometric and floral patterns, along with stylized human and zoomorphic images in its central area and borders.
