Head of the Department of Research of Printed Books of the Institute of Manuscripts after Muhammad Fuzuli at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), PhD in history, Associate Professor Javid Jafarov has met with Head of Middle Eastern and Central Asian Collections at the British Library Michael Erdman and Ursula Williams, a researcher at the Asian and African Studies Department to discuss the prospects for the scientific collaboration.
The parties also explored the potential for exchanging manuscripts, as well as experiences between the Institute of Manuscripts and the British Library.
As part of his scientific mission to the United Kingdom, Javid Jafarov conducted research in a number of manuscript treasures, libraries, archives and museums of the United Kingdom, including the British Library and the British Museum.
He also got acquainted with the conditions of preservation, restoration, cataloging and digitization of the ancient Eastern and Azerbaijani manuscripts preserved there, and learned about the innovations applied in this field.
