ADA University hosts event on "ICESCO Youth Talks"

Baku, October 6, AZERTAC

Azerbaijan’s ADA University has hosted an event entitled "ICESCO Youth Talks" as part of the “Youth Dialogues” Program by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (ICESCO).
Rector of ADA University, Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, ICESCO Director-General Salim M. AlMalik, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, Chief Operating Officer at the Space Foundation Shelli Brunswick and others attended the event.
Addressing the event, Rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev described Baku's hosting of the 74th International Astronautical Congress as an exceptional case. He also hailed ICESCO General Director Salim M. AlMalik’s contribution to Islamic solidarity as well as his participation in projects that contribute to a better world for the future.
Emphasizing the importance of youth activities, Salim M. AlMalik highlighted new challenges, positive and negative aspects of technology, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on the future. “Only 10 percent of ICESCO's activities involve Muslim countries. Sometimes we choose a location for our projects and Muslims are among the beneficiaries of these projects,” Salim M. AlMalik noted.
Shelli Brunswick said that fifty years ago, there were only two countries who were interested in space issues and their sole purpose was to travel to space. "Today we have bigger goals. Previously, more men had been involved in these activities, but gender equality had now been achieved. You can see it among the participants at the congress," Shelli Brunswick mentioned.
“Artificial intelligence will not depend on people in the next 7-8 years and this will create an opportunity for people to enhance their skills,” Minister Rashad Nabiyev underlined. The minister also emphasized the importance of developing communication skills and abilities for young people, noting that about 500 students from foreign countries were invited to the International Astronautical Congress.
The event continued with a Q&A session.
