President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev has met with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament Sahiba Gafarova.
During the meeting, President Rumen Radev said that Azerbaijan and Bulgaria are not only strategic partners, but also very close countries. He pointed out that the high-level political dialogue between the two countries is taking place on a regular basis. The Bulgarian President stressed the importance of high-level visits in the development of bilateral relations.
President Rumen Radev drew attention to the importance of cooperation between the parliaments, as in other fields, adding that intensifying contacts in this area would contribute to the further development of bilateral relations. He also underlined that they want to ensure peace and security in the region and support peace negotiations.
President Rumen Radev emphasized that the Azerbaijani gas has already reached Bulgaria. “The strategic partnership between the two countries does not cover only the energy sector. The two countries develop successful relations in other areas too,” the head of state added.
Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova conveyed the greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the President of Bulgaria. She noted the important role of reciprocal visits of the two heads of state and positive negotiations in the development of relations between the two countries. The Azerbaijani Speaker said that the Greece-Bulgaria Gas Interconnector has opened a new chapter in this cooperation.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underlined that reciprocal visits play an important role in the development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
The Speaker also emphasized that there were good opportunities for further development of close cooperation between the parliaments within the various international parliamentary organizations. Sahiba Gafarova also underscored the importance of joint activities of friendship groups in this area.
During the conversation, the sides highlighted the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian field that has a rich history.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
