Azerbaijani culture minister addresses forum on “Inheriting Silk Road Culture and Building a New Form of Civilization” in China

Dunhuang, September 6, AZERTAC
As part of the visit to the People's Republic of China, the delegation of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture has attended the opening ceremony of the 6th Silk Road International Cultural Expo (SRDICE), Dunhuang, Northwest China's Gansu province.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli addressed the forum on “Inheriting Silk Road Culture and Building a New Form of Civilization”.
The minister emphasized that in particular, in the age of globalization, "the preservation of the national cultural values of the peoples along the Silk Road, the commitment to traditions and common aims contribute greatly to the stability and advancement of the world civilization.
Noting that Azerbaijan, which has historically made significant contributions to ensuring communication along the Silk Road, continues its mission, the minister said: "Azerbaijan hosted numerous international conferences related to the Great Silk Road and launched significant regional infrastructure projects. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the Baku International Sea Trade Port offer a practical route for shipments from China to the West. The preservation of the cultural legacy of the Silk Road is extremely important to Azerbaijan. At the national level, appropriate legislative and institutional steps have been taken to ensure the protection of historical monuments. Azerbaijan is also an active member of UNESCO's Silk Road Program.”
Underlining that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the dialogue between cultures, Minister Adil Karimli informed about the "Baku Process" proposed by President Ilham Aliyev in 2008. “Currently, the Baku Process, in which the UN Alliance of Civilizations, UNESCO, the World Tourism Organization, the Council of Europe and ICESCO are partners, has become a global intercultural dialogue platform,” the minister added.
